Kieran Trippier joins Atletico Madrid
According to BBC Sports, England international fullback, Kieran Trippier has completed a move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hot Spur in a deal worth £20 million
Trippier, last appearance for Spurs was the 2-0 Champions League final defeat to Liverpool back in June.
The 28-year old did not travel with the Spurs squad for their pre-season tour of Asia. He and defender Danny Rose stayed at home after being granted time off “to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs”, along with Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
Trippier joined the London based club from fellow Premier League side Burnley FC in June 2015 and made more than 100 appearances for the club.
The defender is expected to be a key figure in Atletico Madrid’s new look squad next season and he has signed a three year deal with the Spanish Capital club.
Diego Simeone has already acquired centre-back Felipe from Porto and left-back Renan Lodi from Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense to his defence, while Uruguay international Diego Godin has joined Italian Club Inter Milan.
The La Liga giants have also added young Portugal international Joao Felix and Spanish midfielder Marcos Llorente to their squad previously.
Kieran Trippier will be the first English player to play for Atletico Madrid for 95 years.
