FC Barcelona announced that Norberto Murara “Neto” had signed a contract with the La Liga giant.

According to Calciomercato, Barcelona officially acquired Neto from Valencia and will be Marc Andre ter Stegen’s back-up. Neto is seen as the most suitable cover for Barca’s first choice netminder. Jasper Cillessen has reportedly left Barcelona for Valencia, opening the doors for Neto. Cillesen was said to have decided to leave Barcelona after he struggled to replace the German shot stopper and be the club’s first choice.

Neto’s move to Camp Nou cost the Spanish club €26 million plus €9 million in potential bonuses. The contract will extend until 2023 with a €200 million release clause.

The prolific goalkeeper was earlier linked to the English club Arsenal. However, The Catalan club managed to snarl the Brazilian goalie from rival, Valencia to help the La Liga champs in their campaign.

The Brazilian international has been in Europe since 2011. He started his European football with Fiorentina where spent four years. He then made a move to Juventus as a back-up for Gianluigi Buffon. In 2017, Neto flew to Spain and made 80 appearances with Valencia.

With Neto in tow, Ernesto Valverde will now have the opportunity to shuffle his pack as he sees fit across various competitions this coming season.
