Wolves set to sign Middlesbrough winger Traore in a £18m deal
Wolves are close to signing Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore after triggering £18m release clause on the player’s contract according to BBC. According to the paper, Traore will undergo his medical on Tuesday and become Wolve’s record signing.
Adama Traore, who joined Middlesbrough from Aston Villa, graduated from the famous youth academy of Barcelona i.e La Masia. He moved from Barcelona’s second team to the main squad at the age of 18. He scored his debut goal for Barcelona against SD Huesca in Copa del Rey in 2014. However, he could not displace star-stubbed Barcelona attackers and joined Aston Villa in 2015. At Aston Villa, he was dropped from the main squad because of indiscipline and hence joined Middlesbrough. He was not an instant hit at Middlesbrough. He made 32 appearances in 2016/17 season without scoring a goal. However, He developed over time and scored 5 goals and made 10 assists in the 2017/18 season. He won Rockliffe Hall Young Player of the Year, Cornerstone Players’ Player of the Year and Ramsdens Player of the Year following a poll of Middlesbrough supporters in 2017/18 season.
Traore is known for his electric pace, flair and magnificent dribbling ability. The main weakness of the player is his end product. He regularly wastes great goal-scoring opportunity and fails to deliver a good pass in the final third. Saying that he is just 22 and constantly improving his end product which was evident in the second part of last season.
