Roma interested in signing Spurs midfielder Wanyama
Serie A giants Roma are considering a late move for Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Following the departure of Radja Nainggolan to Internazionale, the Italian outfit are keen to strengthen their defensive midfield options with skipper Daniele de Rossi now 35 and Maxime Gonalons unconvincing in his first season with the club.
The Giallorossi are thought to be lining up a move for Steven N’Zonzi of Sevilla but has so far been unsuccessful in convincing the World Cup winner to make the move to the Stadio Olimpico, with N’Zonzi reportedly preferring a move to the Premier League, where he has attracted interest from Arsenal as well as Everton.
According to La Repubblica via the Daily Mirror, Spurs midfielder Wanyama has now emerged as an alternative option for Roma. Despite the 27-year-old Kenyan still having three years left on his contract with the North London club, the Italians are willing to spend as they have the money following the sales of Nainggolan and Alisson, with a fee of around £25-30 million being considered for the Spurs midfielder.
Wanyama, who joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2016, is currently sidelined with a recurring knee injury he has aggravated during the pre-season tour of the North London club in the United States.
