Thibaut Courtois misses Chelsea traning to force a move to Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois did not arrive at Chelsea’s training session today and has expressed a desire to join Real Madrid, according to The Guardian. The paper mentions that Courtois was due to join Chelsea’s pre-season training camp today. However, the player has opted to stay in Belgium to force a move to Real Madrid, who have offered £35m to Chelsea for the goalkeeper.
Courtois has made it clear that he wants to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid in order to stay close to his two children according to Christophe Henrotay. Christophe, who is Courtois agent told The Sun (via Guardian)
“I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut. But he has made it clear to the club the best option for him is to move to Madrid. For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept.
Chelsea are believed to be reluctant to let Courtois leave without signing his replacement and have halted a negotiation with Real Madrid according to Sky Sports. As we mentioned, Stoke City’s Jack Butland is one of the goalkeepers being lined up to replace Courtois.
