Sevilla have officially agreed to pay Barcelona €8.5m plus €2m on add-ons to sign 28 year old fullback Aleix Vidal. According to Sevilla, Vidal has signed a four-year contract with the club. Vidal was grateful to Sevilla for making a concrete effort to re-sign him and said:

“We know that it hasn’t been an easy operation but I thank Sevilla FC for its effort. There were offers from abroad but people who know me know that I’ve never done things for money but for the feeling. The heart always leads and the only option was to come back here, where I’ve always felt loved”.

Aleix Vidal, who was signed by Barcelona in the 2015/16 season, made 49 appearances for Barcelona and won eight major titles. He scored six goals for Barcelona and assisted 11 times. However, he was not able to cement himself as the first choice right-back for Barcelona. Because of this, he has opted to rejoin his previous club i.e Sevilla. Vidal was one of the instrumental players when Sevilla won Europa League in Warsaw in 2015.

Vidal, who joined Sevilla from UD Almeria, was initially signed by Sevilla as a right-winger. He was soon transformed into attacking right-back by then Sevilla manager Unai Emery. During his first spell at Sevilla, Vidal scored four goals and made seven assists. His impressive debut season at Sevilla prompted Spanish national team to call him for an International friendly against Costa Rica.
