Toby Alderweireld is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester United. According to the Mirror, the Belgian star is close to sealing a move to Old Trafford worth up to £60 million.
After making a triumphant return at the World Cup from a serious hamstring injury last season, the Spurs centre-half is back to stellar performances for his national team. Manchester United have re-ignited their interest in the Alderweireld and both clubs are close to agreeing a transfer fee.
Mourinho has made signing a centre-back top priority for this summer and Toby is an ideal candidate. Like last summer, Mourinho has shown his desire to sign the Belgian, hoping that he could solidify the Red Devil backline.
Only one issue, Pochettino. The Spurs’ head coach is not willing to part ways with major stars unless the club finds a replacement prior to that players departure. The Argentine has admitted that after Alderweireld’s string of injuries at the club forced him to drop the Spurs veteran from the starting team.
Tottenham and Daniel Levy have had a quite summer, all too reminiscent to recent summers under Poch. Spurs fans may grow frustrated especially with a star player potentially departing the club but, the team has had very few bad signings because of the precautions they take.
