Chelsea are the latest side to show an interest in Juventus play maker Miralem Pjanic, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The blues have all but officially confirmed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, and this has sparked a number of rumours regarding players who might join the Italian at Stamford Bridge.

Perhaps surprisingly, they have been linked with 28-year old Pjanic over night on Wednesday. Former Juventus Director of football Luciano Moggi posted on his Twitter account simply hash-tagging the names Sarri, Pjanic and Chelsea. This of course sparked reaction that the player could be going to Chelsea, and has since been backed up by various other outlets.

My take? I don’t believe that Pjanic is a genuine target. Juventus are reportedly demanding £70 million for the Bosnian international. Chelsea are reluctant to pay that kind of money on targets unless they’re forced to (i.e replacing a pivotal player such as Diego Costa last summer). Also the fact that Pjanic is a player nearing their over 30s policy.

The blues have also been linked with Matias Vecino from Inter, who is allegedly admired by Sarri. Various outlets from England and Italy have stated him as a serious target for Chelsea this summer.

The 26-year old is currently competing in the World Cup with his home nation Uruguay, but he joins a long list of suggested targets that Chelsea are looking at.

With silly season in full flow, its always best to take these with a pinch of salt at this time, until some of deals progress. But Chelsea do have a large shortlist of players, I understand that Jean-Michael Seri remains their main midfield target at this time and they feel confident of signing him from Nice.
