Chelsea owner keen on ‘in demand’ midfielder Aleksandr Golovin
Roman Abramovich has been considering joining the pursuit for Russian midfielder Aleksander Golovin, so I understand. As interest heats up from Arsenal and Juventus, who have reportedly already spoken with the players representatives about a move, Abramovich is keen on making a late offer for the 22-year old.
The Russian billionaire has invested in bringing youngsters through in his home country helping out with various academies, and Golovin is perhaps one of the brightest sparks to come out of Russian football for some time. Abramovich has been following his progress closely and believes he has the quality to make it at Stamford Bridge.
The CSKA Moscow player confessed that he is honoured by the interest from Juventus, but is currently concentrating on the World Cup. But Abramovich, who has reported links with the Moscow club, may well present a different option to the youngster to consider this summer.
Golovin has already made 20 appearances for his country, who are currently hosting the World Cup, and had an impressive competition opener as they turned over Saudi Arabia 5-0.
Offers around £15 million were expected to come in for Golovin, but that fee will surely rise if he continues to impress on the world stage.
