AS Monaco is watching their squad get cut even more this summer. Multiple reports have come out now saying Atletico Madrid is close to the €60m rated Thomas Lemar.

Lemar was vital to Monaco title-winning season of 2016/2017 and made a total of 28 appearances this past season, scoring twice with seven assists and 45 chances created.

The French international possesses brilliant attacking qualities thanks to his impressive footwork and agility. The two clubs are still hammering out the details of the transfer, with Atletico Madrid’s official website stating “Atletico de Madrid and AS Monaco has achieved a preliminary agreement over the transfer of Thomas Lemar to our club. Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer.”

The arrival of Lemar would be a great addition to Atletico Madrid and would see Antoine Griezmann embrace the arrival of his French compatriot.

Predominantly a left-winger, he can cut-inside and take on defenders or play outside and deliver an accurate cross. But he is capable of playing on the right or through the middle, taking defenders head-on.

With the loss of Fernando Torres, expect Griezmann to move up next to Diego Costa with Lemar taking over at the wing opposite of Angel Correa in their 4-4-2 formation.

Additional attacking force will help Los Rojiblancos progress further in the Champions League next season. Hopefully, it will be enough to keep Griezmann at the Wanda Metropolitano for years to come.
