Watford have completed the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from FC Barcelona. According to the official site of FC Barcelona, the clubs have agreed on a fee of £11.5m plus £3.5m in add-ons. Furthermore, Barcelona will receive a percentage of the transfer fee should Watford decide to sell Deulofeu in the future.

Deulofeu was loaned to Watford by Barcelona this January until the end of the season. Since then, he has represented Watford seven times and scored one goal in thumping win against Chelsea. His performance on the field has resulted in him being permanently transferred to Watford. Watford chairman Scott Duxbury has stressed that the club has the ambition to not only to stay on the Premier League but also to achieve higher places.

“We are very pleased to welcome Gerard back,” said Watford chairman Scott Duxbury.

“Our ambition to succeed and grow in the Premier League remains as strong as ever.”

Deulofeu is a product of highly regarded La Masia and has represented Spanish national team for four times. This is the second time Barcelona have sold Deulofeu to a Premier League club. He was sold to Everton in 2015. After a successful loan spell at AC Milan, Barcelona activated a buy-back clause in Deulofeu’s contract. Then, the player played 17 times for FC Barcelona only to be loaned and ultimately sold back to the Premier League.
