Clement Lenglet is a player in demand, with a widely reported pursuit by Spanish giants Barcelona and an interest from Manchester United, Chelsea are the latest club to make their interest known.

France Football reported over the weekend that the blues are interested in signing the 22-year old France Under 21 international, and on Monday morning we are hearing that they have gone as far as ‘making an offer’ to Sevilla for their young centre back, this according to Seville based publication Estadio Deportivo.

With the future of David Luiz and Kurt Zouma unclear, and of course an ageing Gary Cahill, the centre back position appears to be an area where Chelsea are looking to add resources. Chelsea have been strongly linked for moves for Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle and Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, perhaps suggesting their intent.

Clement has offers on the table and will make a decision about his future by the end of the month. Sevilla have offered him a new deal at the club and remain confident that he will sign this. If he signs said deal then his 35 million euros release clause will increase.

Arsenal have also been linked with the youngster but according to Spanish press it is Barcelona who have made the most progress in their pursuit so far, but with the latest reports suggesting Chelsea have upped their pursuit and put an offer on the table for the former Nancy youth player.
