Liverpool have been diligent on replacing Loris Karius in goal after his disastrous performance in the Champions League final a week ago. Alisson Becker is the Red’s primary replacement target. However, the Brazilian goalkeeper has his eyes on the club that beat Liverpool in the final, Real Madrid.
According to a MARCA report, Alisson is interested in competing with Costa Rican international, Kaylor Navas, for the starting goalkeeper position at the Santiago Bernabéu. Both Liverpool and Real Madrid will have to go deep into their pockets to sign the Brazilian. Fabrizio Romano and Sachin Nakrani reported in the Daily Mail that AS Roma will not not sell Alisson for less than £79 million.
The Daily Mail report that the Merseyside Reds have yet to make an official offer but Jürgen Klopp has made contact regarding Alisson’s services. With the FIFA World Cup looming and Brazil retaining Alisson’s attention for the next month, a deal may not be done until August.
Roma’s top man was the best performer statistically between the sticks in the UEFA Champions League. Alisson played in all of Roma’s twelve matches, earning 45 saves, five clean sheets, conceding 19 goals from 62 shots on target. Navas finished sixth statistically (29 saves, two clean sheets) while Karius finished eleventh (24 saves, six clean sheets).
At any rate, the reports have hinted that Alisson may snub Liverpool for a chance to become the next Iker Casillas.
