According to reports arising from the Manchester Evening News, Brazilian midfielder Fred may soon be announced as the club’s newest signing.

The report claims that Manchester United have been in extended talks with Fred’s current employer- Ukrainian team Shakthar Donetsk over the transfer for a few weeks now, and it would appear that a deal has been hashed out.

Apparently, the club would have preferred to announce the transfer at the start of June when Fred is scheduled to be in the UK on international duty. But a source revealed that the announcement would most likely come as early as this Sunday when Brazil plays Croatia at Anfield as one of their pre-tournament friendlies. The Seleção also have a June 10 friendly against Austria lined up in Vienna. before properly kicking off their World cup on the 16th with a match against Switzerland.

This transfer would be seen as a small victory for the majority of the Old Trafford faithful, as they were involved in a bidding war with their noisy neighbors as well as a host of other clubs over the midfielder.

While speaking on his future, the Brazilian Midfielder stated that “he would make a decision on his future only after the World Cup”.
