Juventus turn to Juan Bernat, according to JuveChannel, in case Matteo Darmian’s expected deal from Manchester United falls through.
The Spaniard based out of Munich has been identified by the Old Lady as a possible summer addition. Bernat has proven to be a strong wingback which Juventus desperately need after the departures of Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Originally, Matteo Darmian was heavily linked with a move to Turin and is due a medical on Saturday but with a couple failed medicals from previous players, Juventus has lined up a plan B. Sky Italia are also reporting that Juventus are only offering €12m for Darmian and United are seeking €20m.
Alex Sandro has been offered a rich contract making him one of the top earners in Turin, however, many top clubs have already made contact with the Brazilian. Last summer, Chelsea FC were priced out, leading to much of Antonio Conte’s frustration with the club.
Bernat is a great option, considering that Juventus and Bayern Munich have a great relationship. Douglas Costa and Medhi Benatia came from the Bavarian side which makes Bernat’s arrival very likely in the future. Bayern and Juventus even share the same stadium sponsor, the insurance company Allianz. Further proving how far their relationship goes.
The Bavarians can be convinced to sell if Juventus dishes out €40 million as they are set to downsize their squad.
