Liverpool midfielder Emre Can set to join Juventus
Emre Can is set to leave Liverpool and join Italian champion Juventus on a free transfer this summer. According to Goal, Can is close to signing a five-year contract worth around £85,000 a week along with bonuses with the Turin-based club.
Can, who has been left out of Germany’s World Cup squad, has a contract with Liverpool until the end of June 2018. Neil Jones of Goal mentions that Liverpool has given up the hope of luring Can to sign a contract-extension. Also, Neil implies that Can has verbally accepted the contract of Juventus and wants to wait until the Champions League final to put the signature in the paper and announce the deal.
Neil’s report is further supported by Giuseppe Marotta’s, CEO of Juventus, claims that his club is hopeful of announcing Can deal after Champions League final.
“In the past year, there is great optimism regarding Emre Can. We hope to confirm his signing after the Champions League final,”Marotta told Mediaset Premium.
Can, who was injured for past two months, is in contention to start the Champions League final against Real Madrid after training with Liverpool squad this week in Marbella. It is understood that a confirmation of Can to Juventus is likely to be done after the Champions League final in order to avoid any unwanted distractions.
