Celtic are interested in signing Craig Dawson from West Brom this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Hoops are keen to add to their defence as they look to challenge in Europe next season, as well as trying to defend what could be back-to back-domestic trebles.
Steven Gerrard’s appointent at rivals Rangers has led some to believe that they could get back to a level where they can challenge Celtic next season, so the Hoops will be looking to do all they can in order to ensure that they remain the top club in Scotland.
28-year-old Dawson is an integral part of West Brom’s side and has started every game of caretaker manager Darren Moore’s unbeaten spell in charge.
In that period, Albion have only conceded three goals in five games and Dawson has impressed, like he has for the majority of the last few seasons.
The Baggies value the Englishman at around £15 million, something Celtic would be unlikely to pay, so they will need to negotiate well to make the deal happen.
Dawson has featured over 150 times for West Brom, but if they are relegated to the Championship this week, he’s likely to be on the move and the lure of European football could be enough to attract him to Celtic Park.
Elsewhere, full-back Kieran Tierney says that he is flattered to be attracting Premier League interest, but has played down talk of a summer exit from Celtic.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Tierney reaffirmed his ambition to stay on at Celtic next season, despite being linked with moves away.
If somebody wants to buy you then that means you are doing something right. When big teams are looking at you, it’s flattering. It’s happened during most windows since I broke through. It’s good for me. It doesn’t bother me or distract me because I’m enjoying myself. I’m playing for Celtic, so I’m happy. I’m not in any rush at all. I had four years left on my last contract and, if I wanted to leave, I would have chosen to run that down.
Bournemouth are the latest club to be linked with a move for the Scottish international, and are favourites using a Bet365 Bonus Code, whilst Manchester United are also thought to be long-term admirers of the defender.
Tottenham have been another Premier League club credited with an interest in the player, who has been a revelation since Brendan Rodgers arrived at the club.
Tierney has been used both as an attacking left-back and as a centre-back as, impressing in both positions.
Celtic will be keen to hold of Tierney for as long as possible but will be aware that interest will only grow if the defender continues in this rich vein of form.
