After the official confirmation of receiving the historical amount of €222million from Neymar move to PSG, Barcelona are set to sign Real Sociedad central defender Inigo Martinez for around €32million.

According to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde insists on bringing in Inigo Martinez to strengthen the Blaugrana defences options in the current summer transfer period and the transfer deal is believed to be close to done.

A source from the Real Sociedad administration told the newspaper that Barcelona had already asked to sign the 26-year-old central defender Inigo Martinez. The reply was that he is not for sale and that any club who want to sign him need to meet his release clause.

Barcelona have reached an agreement on personal terms with Inigo Martinez for his arrival to the club, leaving only the club to deposit the release clause to La Liga accounts to complete the deal.

Inigo Martinez, 26, is expected to be the fourth of Barcelona’s summer deals after young Brazilian centre-back Marlon Santos, Portuguese full-back Nélson Semedo and winger Gerard Deulofeu.

The Catalan club are expected to continue their spending spree this summer with names like Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele re-emerged as Barcelona’s top target lately.

But both Liverpool and Dortmund are extremely reluctant to let go of Coutinho and Dembele respectively with both clubs slapping huge price tags on their players – that wouldn’t be a problem at all for Barcelona though as they have already received fresh funds after the sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

Nevertheless, no matter whether it is Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann, or Dybala to replace Neymar at Camp Nou, Los Cules surely have an enormous hole to fill and they need to act fast before the transfer window closes.
