Ross Barkley will leave Everton
Ross Barkley’s Everton career is over.
Reports tell us that the young English midfielder is 100% due to leave the Merseyside club after declaring he is ready for “a new challenge”.
Since thriving under previous manager, Roberto Martinez, Barkley has had a mixed season under Ronald Koeman. The 23-year-old has found himself under criticism but also helped chip in with 5 league goals in 36 appearances and led out Everton in their League Cup tie to Yeovil Town, as captain.
However in recent months the overlying issue stood with the England international having only 12-months remaining on his contract. With the snub of a reported 100,000 a week offer, Everton have deemed it time to cash in on the English playmaker with no shortage of suitors as the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal reportedly keen on offering a new challenge, away from Goodison Park.
The criticism of Barkley has picked up momentum since not featuring for a single minute of the disappointing England Euro 2016 campaign, leading to a peak of criticism from his own manager, Ronald Koeman, hinting that Barkley may never reach the potential he once showed as a teenager.
With only 12-months on his contract and now confirmation he is wanting away, how much can a 23-year-old Ross Barkley command in the transfer market?
