Lucas Perez out of the Emirates?
Lucas Perez looks ready to quit Arsenal after a horrible first season. All season it seemed Arsene Wenger favored someone else up top. Many Arsenal fans were excited with the signing of Lucas Perez from Deportivo in the summer of 2016, where he managed to bag 17 goals and set-up a further 8 in 35 appearances. The Spaniard moved for a fee around €20 million but unfortunately, he has not lived up to the expectations of being a Gunner at all. And on top of his horrible form, he has had to endure the embarrassment of having his squad number taken by new no. 9 Alexander Lacazette.
The 28-year-old striker was denied the chance to leave for China by Arsene Wenger earlier this summer and that only made matters worse.
In the 16/17 Premier League campaign Perez managed to score only 1 goal, but fared a little better in the Champions League where he bagged 3 goals, per ESPN. This lack of goals meant that Wenger favored striker Giroud, and Welbeck more, and even Alexis would start over Perez.
According to Sky Sports, Lucas Perez has admitted that he would welcome a return to Deportivo La Coruna.
Bayer Leverkusen are also rumoured to be chasing the Spanish striker after losing Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez to West Ham United this summer, as per Sport1.
With Perez almost already out of England, the Gunners are set to lose almost £10 million on the Spaniard. With his value being around the £15 million mark, but the Gunners are reported to be willing to consider offer’s around £10 million.
