Matthias Ginter snubs Premier League for Mönchengladbach
According to reports in Germany‘s Kicker, a transfer agreement has been made for Matthias Ginter to leave Borussia Dortmund and join Bundesliga rival Borussia Mönchengladbach. The transfer of the 23-year-old Confederations Cup winner and defender for the German national team to Borussia Mönchengladbach is said to cost the club €17 million.
This news will come as a blow to Tottenham, who has been keeping tabs on the hot defensive prospect for a potential move this summer. The reports suggest the German defender will put behind the heavy interest he has been attracting from the Premier League and end up opting to stay in his home country, favouring a switch of clubs within the Bundesliga.
Ginter is said to be receiving a four year contract in joining his new club at Mönchengladbach. After being a member of the German national team who won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as a 20 year old, his recent time at Borussia Dortmund didn’t end as quite planned. But, with loads of talent still at his disposal, as witnessed in this summer’s Confederations Cup triumph, Borussia Mönchengladbach is set to receive a defensive star that will strengthen their defensive unit for years to come.
