Borussia Monchengladbach close to seal Reece Oxford deal
Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach is very close to signing West Ham defensive prodigy Reece Oxford on loan, as reported by Daily Mail.
The West Ham starlet has reportedly arrived in Germany to complete a season-long loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Oxford, 18, is tipped as a future West Ham and England captain but the Hammers want their teenager to gain regular first-team football next season.
West Ham will not listen to any permanent offers as they intend to keep hold of this supremely talented centre-back.
Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen has spent two seasons on loan at Gladbach and has now developed to become one of the most promising defenders in the football world. West Ham would want Reece Oxford to emulate the success of Christensen with Die Fohlen and make a similar impression.
The 18-year-old defender has not played much in last season campaign as he was ruled out with malleolar injury and struggled to get his fitness back.
West Ham on the other hand are looking at signing a striker. With interest in Luis Muriel fading, the club are looking at the the possibility of signing Oliver Giroud with Andy Carroll’s injury record seeing him spend more time out than in the XI. It seems that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is now willing to take that decision away from the striker and agree a deal to sell him.
