Real Madrid are reportedly willing to ‘freeze’ any negotiations with potential suitors of Alvaro Morata, at least until the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is resolved, that is.
Friday 16th June marked the day Real fans had been fearing, the day Ronaldo formally requests to leave the club. It has been widely reported that the Portuguese superstar is unhappy with his perception recently in the Spanish press after allegations of tax evasion were made public. Ronaldo is said to have already told club president Florentino Perez of his desire to leave the Spanish capital with his supposed intention being to leave Spanish football entirely. But with a reported €1 billion buy-out clause in his contract, the list of would-be buyers is extremely slim.
PSG, a host of money-laden Chinese clubs and a romantic reunion at Old Trafford with Manchester United are all been said to be possible destinations for CR7 but orchestrating such a huge move will take considerable time, effort and even more money to bring in the Portugal icon.
In retaliation to potentially losing two of their best front-men, Real Madrid are said to be contemplating delaying further negotiations with Manchester United for Alvaro Morata. Despite AS claiming an agreement between the two clubs has already been reached over Morata, talks now look certain to be put firmly on hold to avoid the Champions League holders looking light up top.
Will Ronaldo call an end to his Real love affair? Will Morata leave regardless of the decision to sell his for-now fellow teammate? One thing’s for sure, we haven’t heard the last of these two deals, definitely ones to watch.
