Nacer Chadli Set to join West Brom for Club record fee
West Brom agree a club record £13million deal for Tottenham’s attacking midfielder Nacer Chadli amidst the manager Tony Pulis facing a desperate three days to further strengthen his West Bromwich Albion squad after a lifeless stalemate against Middlesbrough.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Chadli is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and will be the first arrival of the week, with Pulis still optimistic on four more signings before Wednesday’s deadline.
The reinforcements is much needed for west brom and Pulis will be hoping 27-year-old Belgium international Chadli can spark life back into his side whose deficiencies were exposed on Sunday as Middlesbrough easily secured a point against them to maintain their unbeaten start.
Chadli was one of the seven players signed by Tottenham Hotspur after the enormous cash gotten from the sale of Gareth Bale and he did well to establish himself as a first team regular scoring 25 goals in 119 appearances. However, the midfielder has fallen out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino this season and has not made the bench for any of Tottenham’s league games thus far.
His path to the starting XI is blocked by Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, whilst the likes of Heung-min Son, Joshua Onomah and Marcus Edwards appear to have crept ahead of him too.
West Brom’s previous record signing was the £12million they paid to Zenit Saint Petersburg for Salomon Rondon, with the Venezuelan only managing ten goals in 37 league appearances, they will no doubt be hoping that Chadli makes a more immediate impression.
