Arsenal are on the verge of losing star attacker Alexis Sanchez, with reports stating an announcement will come today that the player will join Manchester United.

Manager Arsene Wenger spoke of his desire to bring in resources to help fill the void when the Chilean international inevitably leaves. It appears that it could be Borussia Dortmund front man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who will take up the task of stepping into the shoes of the former Barcelona man.

Arsenal have sent officials over to Germany today in an attempt to get this deal over the line. Dortmund have said they are yet to receive any offers for their 28-year old Gabon international, however enquires have been made by Wenger’s side.

Aubameyang has had his head elsewhere and as a result has been left out of recent squads for the Bundesliga side, and is reportedly keen on joining Arsenal.

Having been at Dortmund since 2013, when he joined from Saint-Etienne, he has established himself on the world stage as one of the top strikers in Europe, scoring 98 goals in 143 appearances.

A different type of player than Sanchez altogether, however he is capable of filling the void as a goalscorer at the very least at The Emirates, as a deal looks to be progressing here.

Meanwhile Dortmund may ask for Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud on loan as a replacement for Aubameyang. They are also looking at Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, who is keen to gain more regular football.
