The Alexis Sanchez unpredictable saga continues after an eventful evening of progression on this subject. Chelsea were the latest team to be linked with the forward and have allegedly made a late bid according to multiple sources.
However, the general consensus was that the 29-year old Chilean had agreed terms with United and that the deal was close.
But once again, the latest news this lunchtime suggests that this is not the current state of play, and that the deal in fact solely rests on whether United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan decides to accept a move to Arsenal as a part exchange makeweight to the deal.
Right now though, it appears he has no interest in going to London, but does want to leave Manchester.
No agreement in place or close for Mkhitaryan to join Arsenal from Man Utd in Sanchez swap. He holds key & still mulling over #AFC / other clubs / staying #MUFC – if agrees to Arsenal, can happen quickly. Transfer guru Jim White also has the same opinion on the situation…

There has been talk that Mkhitaryan would be keen to go back to his former side Dortmund, however this does not seem likely according to this BBC Journalist. But the 28-year old clearly wants out of Old Trafford.

Interestingly enough he has also contradicted widespread reports that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was very close to joining Arsenal, as a replacement for Sanchez. It all rather seems like a merry-go-round right now, as Aubameyang was also a player that Chelsea have previously enquired about.
Meanwhile, United Manager Jose Mourinho says he is ‘confident but also un-confident’ that his club will sign Sanchez this window, and Sky Sports are reporting that it is now solely between them and Chelsea in securing his signature this window.
