Diego Costa close to joining Fenerbahce
Chelsea’s wantaway striker Diego Costa is close to joining Turkish side Fenerbahce on loan until January.
Various reports suggest that the AWOL Spanish International has no intention of playing for Chelsea again, but wants to play regular football in order to stake a claim for the Spanish World Cup squad.
Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte has maintained the same stance throughout, insisting that Costa is ‘in the past’.
He now looks set to be loaned to Turkey with Galatasaray and Besiktas also showing interest.
The Turkish transfer window closes tomorrow evening and all three clubs are attempting to seal the short term loan deal.
Costa has made it publicly clear that the wants to return to his beloved Atletico Madrid, and although he missed out on a deadline day move back to Spain due to the two clubs unable to agree a fee, he is likely to return to La Liga in January, when Diego Someone’s side have their transfer ban lifted.
The Costa saga has dragged on all summer, with the 28-year old basing himself in his native Brazil, rather than returning to his contracted duties to attend pre-season with Chelsea, which inevitably saw him receive fines from the club.
Reports earlier in the week suggested that Costa was back in the UK, although these are still unconfirmed, this may well have been to sort out the loan move, which is expected to happen very soon.
