Everton in for £40 million Jamie Vardy
Everton are ready to hijack Chelsea’s move for Leicester City Jamie Vardy and are ready to offer £40 million, according to Daily Mirror.
After selling top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, they are still looking for a centre forward to replace him. The Everton boss feels that a proven goalscorer is the missing piece in their squad as their aim to break in the top four.
Jamie Vardy turned down a move to Arsenal last summer after he wanted to compete in the Champions League with Leicester but Chelsea and Everton believe he’s ready for a new challenge.
The Leicester forward is a proven goalscorer in the league after breaking the record by scoring in 11 straight games in the 15/16 season. The Englishman had a poor start to the season but still finished with 13 goals to his name.
If Chelsea signed Jamie Vardy then it might be to replace outgoing Diego Costa who could go to Everton. It is believed that Ronald Koeman wants to take in Chelsea hitman and could possibly discuss a deal when the two teams meet on Sunday.
However, Everton move for Arsenal’s Oliver Giroud and Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, have stalled over the recent weeks.
