Gabigol likely to join Sporting Lisbon on season-long loan
The Brazilian Gabriel Barbosa has been on the search for a new club to join on loan this season from Inter Milan. Gabriel Barbosa, nicknamed ‘Gabigol’, endured a disappointing first season in Italy with Inter Milan, where he was unable to secure a single start all of last season. As a result, Gabigol, along with his parent club Inter Milan, believe that moving to another club on loan for a season is the best way for him to re-ignite his career at the top level before rejoining Inter Milan.
According to reports in Italy, the search for a club to join on loan may be over, as Barbosa’s agent Wagner Ribeiro confirmed links between Gabigol and Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese outfit are inclined to take the young Brazilian attacker on loan this season, as they feel they would be the perfect fit to get his career back on track while also benefiting themselves from his services for a season.
Gabigol’s agent Ribeiro says negotiations between the two clubs for a season-long loan are currently underway. Riberio said he has been talking directly with the Sporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho about the move, and that they both remain optimistic a deal can be reached shortly.
