Inter Milan and Tottenham dueling over Serge Aurier
Ivory Coast’s 24 year old explosive right back Serge Aurier is eager to move on from Paris Saint Germain after the club brought in right back Dani Alves earlier this summer. Aurier believes the Dani Alves addition to the club signals that he is no longer wanted in Paris, and is now on the lookout for a new club.
According to reports in Italy and England, both Tottenham and Inter Milan are the two teams left standing in the venture to purchase the want away defender. The reports suggest a number of teams such as Barcelona, Manchester United, and Manchester City were interested in the right back earlier this summer, but eventually dropped out of the race, leaving only English club Tottenham and Italian club Inter Milan as the last two remaining.
The defender from the Ivory Coast has made it such a priority to find a new club to feature at this summer that he elected to not travel with Paris Saint Germain on their summer preseason tour in order to stay in Europe to complete a transfer with the help of his agent.
Paris Saint Germain are said to have slapped a €25 million price tag on Aurier. While not a cheap buy for either club, Tottenham are in the mood to sign another right back after selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City earlier in the summer and also have the luxury of offering the defender the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season. While Inter Milan don’t have the ability to offer Champions League playing time themselves next season, they remain hopeful Aurier will be willing to become a part of their project to re-establish themselves among the world’s elite once again.
