Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit in Real Madrid’s 24 year-old Spain striker Alvaro Morata after losing out to Manchester United to the signing of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to several reports including Sky Sports.

Morata, who is rumoured to be looking for a move this summer after failing to win a place in the first team ahead of Karim Benzema looked set to join Manchester Utd until it was apparent that Lukaku was their preferred candidate.

Real have slapped a £70 million price tag on their man and it looks as though Chelsea are willing to match their valuation of the player, with Diego Costa looking increasingly likely to leave North London this summer after being told by manager Antonio Conte that he does not feature in his future plans.

Chelsea may not be Morata’s final destination though as Juventus are also interested in re-signing Morata from Real Madrid after speculation over Paulo Dybala’s future at the club.

It remains to be seen where Morata will be playing his football next season but Chelsea will be hoping to land their man very soon after missing out on such a huge signing as Lukaku to their Premier League rivals.

In other news, Sky Sports have reported that Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko will have a medical with Chelsea this week, and could travel with the rest of the Chelsea squad to China and Singapore next Monday.
