Tottenham Hotspur launch transfer bid for Matthias Ginter
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have launched an official bid for German centre-back Matthias Ginter, according to Bild via Bleacher Report.
Last season, Premier League runner-up Tottenham Hotspur have made their intentions clear to sign the versatile defender from Dortmund by making a concrete proposal – despite interest from another Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
And while the rumours of Matthias Ginter joining Spurs intensify, the rumours of Kevin Wimmer leaving the club are also pretty much the same.
It is thought that the 23-year-old defender will be utilised by Mauricio Pochettino as a backup option for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Ginter has impressed in spells at the Westfalenstadion since joining from Freiburg in 2014, doing a decent job in a variety of different roles. However, he has yet to totally nail down a regular position in the Dortmund defence, instead being used to plug gaps.
Despite his impressive showings at Dortmund, Tottenham fans still don’t seem to be very impressed as most of them have different opinions about the player.
They are split into two sides. One side believes that Pochettino can get the best out of the player, the other side believes that he is just an overrated defender and Poch surely needs to find someone better.
Matthias Ginter is a very good defender with huge potential, but he still needs to work harder to improve his game and fulfil his potential.
