Premier League champions are set to launch a bid for Roma defender Kostas Manolas, as reported by Metro.

The Blues are reported to have made an offer of around £42million to sign the Greek defender.

It is said that Kostas Manolas can bolster Antonio Conte’s side and solve his defensive woes.

The Blues are known to be on the hunt for a new centre-back this summer after losing their captain and living legend John Terry at the end of his contract.

Conte has been keen to land a number of big names since last winter, with Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly also emerging as top targets for the Italian.

Nonetheless, they are now turning their heads towards the 26-year-old brick wall, who has also been linked with several Premier League clubs with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Everton involved.

Arsenal have been the biggest admirers of the Greece international in recent times, and though there are rumours earlier this year that Kostas Manolas has agreed to a move to Inter Milan, nothing seemed to materialise.

Chelsea can take advantage of this situation by tabling a huge offer to persuade Giallorossi to let go of their star player.
