AC Milan have officially announced the signing of 21-year old Portuguese sensation Andre Silva from FC Porto for a reported fee of €38 million on a five-year contract.

André is young, talented, and one of the most promising players in Europe. He has a got very good physique (185 cm, 78 kg), he is a dynamic striker combining good technique and finishing skills. In the past season, he was the key player in Porto’s offensive phase, playing as central forward in Nuno Espírito Santo’s 4-3-3: this means he’s going to fit perfectly into Montella’s AC Milan.

Andre signed his first contract with FC Porto in 2011, making his debut with Porto B on the 12th of August 2013 against Sport Clube Beira-Mar. 2 years later, on December 2015, he joined the first team playing against C.S. Marítimo in the Taça da Liga. From that moment on, he kept improving: in the 2015/16 season he played 11 matches, scoring 3 goals (2 goals in the Taça de Portugal Final against Braga). This season, the boy from Gondomar showed his talent, scoring 21 goals in 44 matches, proving to be Porto’s leader. He did great also with his national team, scoring 7 goals in 8 matches.

It was 2010-11 season when AC Milan won their 18th Serie A title. Since then their dream of achieving the Scudetto once again seemed far distant. For the last 5 seasons, AC Milan became 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 10th and 7th accordingly. Also, AC Milan won the UEFA Champion’s League 7 times during their history, being 2 trophies behind Real Madrid when they won their last UCL trophy. Since then, Real Madrid have extended their lead by 3 more and Barcelona is now 2 short from Milan.

On 5 August 2016, a new preliminary agreement was signed with a Chinese investment management company Sino-Europe Sports Investment Management Changxing Co., Ltd. which Fininvest sold 99.93% stake of Milan for €520 million, plus the refurbish of inter-company credit-line of €220 million from Fininvest to the club. The investment of the new owner seems to be the hope of light for the Milan fans as the club already started fetching young talents who can bring Milan back the glory.

Subsequently, AC Milan already bought Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie, and Mateo Musacchio.

Cristiano Ronaldo has given Milan target Andre Silva a glowing reference by suggesting that the young forward will be his heir for Portugal. Such is Portugal’s dependence on Silva and Ronaldo that the pair have scored 17 of the Seleccao’s 22 goals in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, and the Real Madrid star is a great admirer of his new strike partner.

“When I retire, Portugal will be in good hands because they’ve already found a great striker: Andre Silva”
