You’ve heard about Zlatan Ibrahimovic is leaving Manchester United but what about other clubs?
Now, we understand you don’t want to trawl through a bunch of academy kids you never knew existed and never touched the first team so we have complied a list of free agents that we think are either still Premier League able or a ‘name’ that you may not have known was either at that club or was released.
It’s very easy to get lost in the freebie talk, it’s worth noting all these players will demand bigger wages from clubs knowing they are not spending a transfer fee to acquire them. Agents are made for moments like this and all these players will be looking for a nice wage at a new club.
So, here’s who to look for
Yaya Sanogo
The Arsenal striker may want an opportunity to show himself and has been linked to top flight clubs.
Joey Barton
Not the most likeable of footballers and now he’s been binned from Burnley. Michael Kightly is also leaving Turf Moor who was once tipped to greatness at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
John Terry
He won’t come cheap but he comes as a Premier League champion. The central defender recently played in Michael Carricks testimonial and is not to be drawn on his future.
Mathieu Flamini
A former Arsenal favourite the holding midfielder probably won’t get a crack at the top flight but he’s a bit of a name and deserves to be on this list for that reason.
Joe Ledley
A hero for Wales in their run through the Euro’s but the central midfielder has been binned by Marco Silva and will be searching for a new club, however, he will no doubt have admirers from top flight clubs. Frazier Campbell has also left Crystal Palace.
Arouna Kone
Once a cult hero at Wigan Athletic his move to Goodison has been marred by injury but he got a fair share of goals in the top flight, will he continue at the top? Well that’s doubtful but he’s certainly the biggest name on Everton’s released list.
Shaun Maloney
A tricky little winger that will no doubt be wanted by clubs, probably not at the top level but he has something to offer some Championship clubs for sure. Alex Bruce has also left Hull City.
Marcin Wasilewski
The central defender bids goodbye to Leicester City and he may not be given another opportunity at the top but he can leave knowing he helped Leicester City win a Premier League.
Willy Caballero
One of a few to depart from Manchester City with Pep looking to change things up next season and many liked the ‘keeper who helped City to some great silverware
Gael Clichy
Full backs ain’t Pep’s style and Clichy is to depart Manchester City along with Pablo Zabaleta – he’s off to West Ham – but Gael, he’s up for grabs.
Jesus Navas
Regularly frustrated Man City fans with a poor end product or an inability to come inside of his man and now his time is up but he will be wanted by many, no doubt.
Bacary Sagna
The final man to be apart of this list from Manchester City, another full back with a decent CV however no longer part of Pep plans.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan is the only player Manchester United have released, thought to be due to injury but the Swede will have no end of phone calls about his future and many will want to see the striker continue in the Premier League.
Victor Anichebe
When he’s good he’s great, when he’s bad he’s awful and when he’s injured he’s useless. Can anyone find the formula to get the Nigerian fit and firing after joining from West Bromwich Albion his time is over on Wearside.
Seb Larsson
Let’s be honest, he makes this list because he has a cracking free kick..
Jan Kirchhoff
He was rated by many but he’s now left Sunderland, another midfielder that could be offered a role elsewhere. Other notable outs of Stadium of Light are Joleon Lescott, John O’Shea and Steven Pienaar
Sebastien Pocognoli
A Belgian left back unliked by Tony Pulis due to his rash nature and spent the back end of the season at Brighton, however, his future remains up in the air.
