Inter Milan have emerged as victors in the race to sign highly rated Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa, the club have confirmed. After being linked with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona, the striker, affectionately nicknamed Gabigol, has put pen to paper on a 5 year contract with Internazionale, with the Italian giants reportedly paying Santos around €25 million for his services.

Barbosa, who has long been likened to Neymar, won a gold medal at this years Rio Olympics this summer alongside the Barcelona number 11 after competing for Brazil in the Copa América, scoring against Haiti in a 7-1 rout.

I Nerazzurri’s capture of Barbosa is just yet another big name signing in which has been a busy summer for the San Siro based club. Since Chinese investors Suning Commerce Group took the majority control of the club, Inter Milan have not been shy to splash the club. João Mário, Antonio Candreva and Éver Banega have also linked up with the side who finished fourth in the Serie A last season, as the club have made an expenditure of £96.3 million this summer.

At Santos, Barbosa recorded 56 goals in 153 matches in all competitions including winning the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Campeonato Paulista.
