Drinkwater set for new deal and England call-up
Danny Drinkwater is set to see his wage increase as the latest Leicester City player to be handed a new deal following their Premier League winning campaign last season.
The midfielder is to be getting £90,000 a week according to The Telegraph with the former Manchester United man keen to stay at The King Power Stadium.
Leicester have started the defence of their campaign with a loss to Hull City followed by a goalless draw at home to Arsenal but the Foxes are confident they can put up a fight against clubs keen to take the gold Premier League badges off them.
With the news that Drinkwater is close to his four-year deal being confirmed, keeping him in the East Midlands until he is 30 it also looks like he will be handed another chance on the international stage with Sam Allardyce an admirer of the player.
Roy Hodgson played Drinkwater nearer the end of the season and Drinkwater impressed many but failed to make the former England managers 23 man squad who went to France.
Leicester have handed new contracts out to numerous players this summer such as Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez and Andy King to beat off competition from other top flight clubs.
