Juventus defender Bonucci on Real Madrid’s radar
Juventus and Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci is the subject of interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to the Italian source Gazetta World . The rumours have largely surfaced as a result of Pepe failing to sign a new contract yet, despite the Portuguese centre-back having less then a year remaining on his existing contract.
The Italian defender is known for his no-nonsense approach to defending and has been one of the most impressive defenders within world football in recent years. Now it appears that his consistent performances may earn him a move to one of the biggest clubs in world football. However, it is understood that Real Madrid are yet to make a bid and see him as just one potential defender who could make a superstar line-up that little bit stronger. It is rumoured younger centre-backs such as Jerome Boateng, Marquinhos and Aymeric Laporte are also being looked at by the Spanish side. While Laporte perhaps doesn’t yet have the experience of the other two, he does have experience in La Liga, it remains to be seen whether this may make Laporte a more attractive proposition to Real Madrid
However, if Real Madrid decide the strength, commitment and experience Bonucci brings is worth the huge fee that any deal for Bonucci would command, it remains to be seen whether the long serving Juventus man would be willing to leave the Italian champions. While many players have been lured by Real Madrid, Bonucci showcased his loyalty to Juventus amid reports he rejected a 100% increase in his wage and the chance to work with Manchester City boss Guardiola in order to stay at Juventus.
