Barçelona agree Deal with Sevilla for Kevin Gameiro
According to SPORT, the Frenchman would be the Catalan club’s fifth summer signing and finally solve the ongoing problem of finding back-up for the “MSN”. Luis Enrique has been searching for another striker to serve as a back-up to the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
Kevin Gameiro is set to become Barcelona’s latest acquisition ahead of the 2016/17 season after an agreement was reached in principle with Sevilla for the Frenchman’s transfer.
Barça had been negotiating in past days amidst the perceived notion that the Catalan club were set to miss out on the 29-year-old, but in the last hours talks have progressed to finalise the deal.
Sevilla also had an offer from Atletico Madrid on the table, but the insistence of the Blaugrana appears to have turned the situation in their favour.
The deal was completed on Sunday afternoon with speculation beginning to surface after the striker took no part in Los Nervionenses’ friendly with SV Sandhausen, the 29-year-old instead choosing to take his place in the stands alongside the club’s sporting director Monchi.
Only a few details remain but Barça are expected to announce the final agreement and recruit the long-needed attacking option for Enrique.
Gameiro helped Sevilla achieve their third Europa League in succession last season, scoring 29 goals in all competitions.
