Atletico Madrid Bid For Three Strikers
Atletico Madrid have made three formal offers for Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain, and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang respectively, according to Marca.
The La Liga side have submitted bids ranging from €50m-60 million (£41.3m – £49.5million) for the three strikers, potentially breaking the club’s transfer record. Atletico manager Diego Simeone’s top target is Chelsea star Diego Costa as he looks to reunite with his former player. With reports of Costa feeling homesick, the Los Colchoneros are looking to bring in the 27-year old. Atletico will feel confident about a move with Chelsea imminently signing Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi and increasing their interest in Alvaro Morata.
The club have also submitted a bid for Higuain who is not renewing his contract (expiring in 2018) at Napoli. His agent confirmed his client is open to offers this summer with interest also coming from Manchester United, Liverpool, and PSG.
Aubameyang, another target on the shortlist, mentioned back in May and October of last year that he’d like to play in the La Liga one day. Pierre’s father confirmed interest from the Spanish side but Atletico will face competition from Arsenal and Manchester City.
Marca also report that other options for Atletico Madrid include PSG’s Edinson Cavani, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, and Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi but believe they’re all highly unlikely.
