New Liverpool stopper a big upgrade
While Liverpool had an up and down season one thing remained the same, poor Goalkeeping. The Reds have taken the first step in when they signed Mainz keeper Loris Karius. Simon Mignolet was put under severe scrutiny this season that saw LFC conceding 50 goals in the Premier League. Manager Jürgen Klopp has made it known that Mignolet is not the long term answer for the Reds when he took over in December and immediately lodged a bid for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegan. While Mignolet has his moments, overall it was not a bad season, but his form is not one that will win take Liverpool to the next level.

Karius brings youth and more importantly competition to the Goalkeeper position. Adam Bogdan never really provided that needed competition to push the best out of his Belgium team mate. Karius led FSV Mainz to a Europa League spot and the fourth fewest goals conceded in the Bundesliga. Karius was a hidden gem Klopp was able to find at his old club.
