West Brom transfer plans to be finalised this month
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has confirmed he is planning early for the summer transfer market with a number of players watching closely by scouts in various divisions across the world.
Pulis sat with scouts for “two to three hours” to look at potential targets closely and watch videos of players that Albion’s scouting network have spotted as potential players to take The Baggies up the Premier League table.
Pulis confirmed to the Birmingham Mail he is keen to add some younger players to the squad in the same week Jonas Olsson and Gareth McAuley signing new one year contracts. McAuley being the oldest outfielder to feature for West Brom in the Premier League. Meanwhile James Morrison is still yet to sign a new deal, he will become a free agent in the summer and the Scottish international will have buyers.
Pulis has come in for criticism from fans for the style of play and the 1-0 loss to Watford was another game where booing could be heard but the confirmation he has plans for summer signings suggests he is going nowhere soon and Albion fans will have to continue looking for Premier League survival over attacking flair.
Pulis told reporters:
We went through everything they (the scouts) brought forward in respect of players in England and abroad and had a good view of some video clippings.
We spent two or three hours looking at it all.
We’ll meet again at the end of this month and we’ll nail it all down (the transfer targets)
So expect some quick movement from West Brom this summer, who also have an option to sign Sandro from Queens Park Rangers on a permanent deal if they wish.
