La Liga teen on brink of West Ham move
West Ham United have signed Valencia forward Toni Martinez after the 18-year-old scored over 100 goals in the youth ranks of the La Liga team.
Martinez has joined the Hammers for £750,000 but the, seemingly minimal, fee does come with a catch. The striker has a sell on clause of 20% of any future sale with Valencia also allowed first refusal on Martinez as long as they match any agreed fee with another club.
According to the Mirror Valencia saw Toni Martinez as a future star but the East London club have upped his wage to five times more than he is on at Valencia.
The teenager will be revealed by West Ham soon and will go straight into their development squad as one for the future at a time when Slaven Bilic is keen to add a striker to the first team set-up.
West Ham currently sit 5th in the Premier League, a point off fourth place Manchester City and with a move to the Olympic Stadium on the horizon and a new TV deal around the corner a move to West Ham has turned much more appealing than it once was with Slaven Bilic keen to kick on with the club.
