Arsenal new boy discusses move to the Emirates
As some of you may recall, Transfer News Central recently revealed that Arsenal had come to an agreement with the Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria for highly-rated youngster Kelechi Nwakali.
Today, Nwakali has spoken publicly for the first time regarding his move to Arsenal, his delight at the move and interest from other clubs.
“I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal,” he told AllNigeriaSoccer after training on Wednesday.
Nwakali admitted he had other options, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich previously accredited with an interest in the Nigerian starlet, but his boyhood dream was to play for the Gunners, so the move was a no-brainer.
So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.
Sporting Lisbon, Olympiakos and Udinese have all failed with their attempts to land Kelechi in recent months, but Arsenal have managed to agree a fee, believed to be in the region of £2million, with the Diamond Football Academy for his signature.
Kelechi’s teammate, Samuel Chukwueze, was also said to be closing in on a move to the Emirates, but it has all gone quiet on that front.
