West Ham United are ‘set to sign‘ Ipswich Town youngster Sam Ford, after impressing on trial with the Hammers.
Ford attracted attention from West Ham’s scouts while playing for Ipswich’s under-18 side and was offered a trial with the Hammers’ development squad last month.
The 17-year-old has impressed Slaven Bilic’s backroom staff since arriving at Upton Park and, with his scholarship with Ipswich coming to an end this summer, is likely to put pen-to-paper on a youth contract in East London, as per TEAMtalk.
One of the biggest attractions of West Ham to Ford must be their track record of developing young stars and handing them first-team opportunities.
In other news, the Hammers have also been linked with a £15million move for Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
According to the Brentwood Gazette, West Ham have placed the Ox at the top of their summer wish-list and will ‘test Arsenal’s resolve’ with a £15million bid.
It seems somewhat unlikely that the Gunners will even consider the approach having signed him for £15million back in 2011.
