Chelsea may be leading the race for Riechedly Bazoer according to the Daily Mirror, after making the 19-year-old one of their top targets for an expected summer spending spree. Barcelona and Manchester City have also been tipped as suitors for the young Dutchman, but Chelsea want to get a headstart in the race for his signature.
Part of the reason for The Blues starting their move on Bazoer so early is that they’re allegedly hopeful they can use Guus Hiddink’s influence to convince the youngster to move to Stamford Bridge from Ajax. The pair were together at PSV Eindhoven, where the midfielder came through the academy, and Chelsea want to use their interim boss to lure on of the Eredivisie’s hottest talents to West London.
However, they’ll have to fend off interest from some of Europe’s other top clubs if they want to complete the signing of Bazoer. Barcelona and Manchester City have both been keeping a close eye on his progression at Ajax over the past 12 months, and could make their move this summer.
It’s believed that Ajax want around £24 million for the 19-year-old, who made his senior Netherlands debut last year. Talks between Chelsea and both the club and player have begun, with Bazoer’s agent – Irchandley Bazoer, Riechedly’s brother – having visited The Blues’ Cobham training ground to talk about terms.
