Zlatan Ibrahimovic has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, revealing to the Daily Mirror that he is “in shape” for it. The Swede’s lucrative contract at Paris Saint-Germain is up in the summer, and Manchester United are one English club heavily linked with him.
Ibrahimovic has proven a key cog in the PSG machine during his four years in Ligue 1, scoring 96 league goals in just 111 appearances. However, the 34-year-old has no intention of renewing his contract at the Parc des Princes this summer, and could try his hand in the Premier League next season.
“I have another three months here and then what will happen? Big things will happen. Let’s see what happens,” Ibrahimovic said.
The ex-Milan man added when asked about a possible English move: “Let’s just say I am in shape for it.”
If the ex-Barcelona man does want to move to England’s top-flight, it is believed Old Trafford is his most likely destination. The Red Devils are tipped to have a big summer of purchasing following three seasons of relative mediocrity, and Jose Mourinho is expected to arrive as the new manager in Manchester. Ibrahimovic’s strong relationship with his former Internazionale boss is well-documented, and could be a deciding factor in making the Swedish striker want to move to Manchester.
Ibrahimovic is likely to move to Miami to join the new Major League Soccer franchise there ready for the 2018 season, but may want to tide himself over with trying a league he’s never played in before, to help United get back to the heights they experienced under Sir Alex Ferguson.
