Newcastle United have a combination of both good and bad news, as the Magpies have missed out on the acquisition of Atletico Madrid full-back Guilherme Siqueira but are set to seal a loan deal for AS Roma outcast star Seydou Doumbia.
The 29-year-old Siqueira has made just four appearances for the Los Rojiblancos this season, falling out of favor under Diego Simeone. On the other hand, there’s Seydou Doumbia, who is currently on loan at CSKA Moscow and has scored eight times for Leonid Slutsky’s men in red.
As per Sky Sports, Steve McLaren’s side have missed out on Siqueira, who was supposed to undergo at medical at Newcastle but Gary Neville’s Valencia have scuppered any hopes of sealing the deal for the left back. On the contrary, Doumbia is set to undergo a medical at St.James’ Park ahead of a loan deal.
Moreover, the Toons have offered West Bromwich Albion a fee in the region of £21m for the acquisition of Spurs target Saido Berahino.
