Saido Berahino is a no go this month
West Bromwich Albion are to hold strong this month on Saido Berahino as Newcastle and Spurs are struggling to break down a resilient Jeremy Peace who is unwilling to part with the academy graduate.
ITV reports that Berahino, whose contract will run out next May, still desperately wants out at The Hawthorns having been limited to bench opportunities under Tony Pulis of late, a manager that would like to cash in on the striker to gain funds to strengthen Albion’s squad.
The Baggies say they are yet to receive a bid for Berahino this summer with only out-goings being Adil Nabi who joined Peterborough for an undisclosed fee and Anders Lindegaard who joined Preston North End on loan until the end of the season with the re-emergence of Ben Foster following injury making the former Manchester United man surplus to requirements.
Newcastle have been increasingly keen on adding Berahino to their squad this month with a lack of goals leaving them in the relegation mire and the 22-year-old is seen as a perfect option for Steve McClaren’s side.
Spurs have again shown an interest in Berahino but following the summer problems between the two clubs it seems with the structure of any deal Jeremy Peace is again reluctant to allow Berahino to move believing he could be the player to keep West Brom safe for years to come.
