After missing out on Sam Byram to West Ham United, Everton are now eyeing a move for Ajax right back Ricardo van Rhijn, says the Mirror
The 24-year-old Dutch right back has made just three appearances for Frank de Boer’s men this season in the Eredivisie and has become a second choice to fellow Dutchman Kenny Tete, who has made 18 appearances this season.
Roberto Martinez is now keen on acquiring the services of van Rhijn and is reportedly readying a £2million move for the Dutchman. Everton were beaten in the race to sign Sam Byram, who ended up joining Slaven Bilic’s West Ham for a fee that is undisclosed.
It was the third time West Ham pipped the Toffees in their bid to sign a player, after they ended up snapping up both Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus and Dimitri Payet from French giants Marseille.
The report also suggests that Roberto Martinez wasn’t clear about whether to sign Byram or van Rhijn and now that Byram has slipped out his reach, the Dutchman remains the only option.
